At the 1934 World Cup, they beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 in additional time and overcame Hungary 4-2 the following year. These years' success was largely attributed to Giuseppe Meazza and Vittorio Pozzo, who is today regarded as two of Italy's greatest ever players and coaches.
Argentina – 2 Wins
With two World Cup victories, Argentina is tied for third place on the list of countries with the most World Cup victories. A 3-1 extra-time victory over the Netherlands in 1978 was Argentina's first World Cup final victory.
In 1986, they defeated West Germany 3-2 behind Diego Maradona, who was their star player at the time. They have never really won a World Cup since, although Lionel Messi, one of the greatest soccer players ever, helped them come close in 2014 when they lost 1-0 in extra time to Germany.
France – 2 Wins
To put it another way, they had gone 68 years without World Cup victories until winning it in 1998, overcoming the reigning FIFA World Cup champion Brazil 3-0.
